A Journey from Journalism to Digital Media
Combining years of experience in journalism, reporting, and digital media, I specialize in crafting engaging content and impactful stories that bridge traditional and new media.
Early Life and Education
Değer Şahbaz was born on September 22, 1991, in Istanbul. He began his education at Çağrıbey Primary School and graduated from Mevlana High School. In 2009, he was admitted to the Journalism Department of Marmara University’s Faculty of Communication, marking the start of his professional journey in media.
Experience in Journalism and Broadcasting
During his university years, Değer Şahbaz actively participated in journalism projects at the Marmara Media Center. He worked as a presenter and reporter for Marmara University’s internet-based television channel, where his news reports were broadcast.
Alongside his education, he gained experience in the private sector by working in editorial roles at Show TV and the Vidivodo Social Video Platform.
After graduating, he interned at the Star TV News Center, where he gained valuable professional experience in journalism and reporting. Following his internship, he began working at TGRT News as an editor, reporter, and voice-over specialist.
TV8 and YouTube Content Expertise
Değer Şahbaz continued his career at TV8, where he worked for 4 years. During this time:
• He worked as a reporter for İşte Benim Stilim (a rating record-breaking show format implemented in many countries) for 3 seasons.
• In addition, he served as a YouTube Content Specialist, editing and publishing video content while implementing strategies to increase YouTube viewership and engagement.
These experiences allowed him to blend traditional journalism with the dynamic nature of digital platforms.
Transition to Digital Media and Content Development
Building on his background in journalism, Değer focused on the digital media landscape. He received training through the Google YouTube Partner Program and worked with YouTube’s official partner company in Istanbul, where he specialized in content development. He earned the International YouTube Certification, officially becoming a YouTube Specialist.
In addition to video production, he specializes in end-to-end content curation:
• Transforming raw video materials into engaging, watchable, and brand-appropriate content,
• Developing stories from scratch and optimizing them for target audiences,
• Delivering professional visual narratives tailored to client needs.
He is proficient in industry-standard software for video editing and content creation, including:

• Photoshop
• Illustrator
Vienna: Academic and Professional Growth
In 2019, Değer Şahbaz was accepted into the Communication Science Master’s Program at the University of Vienna, where he continues his academic studies. Alongside his education, he works professionally in digital marketing, short film production, video production, and content curation.
Throughout his career, he has successfully combined traditional media experience with digital media strategies, delivering impactful and innovative projects.
